Help me find the best Chicken Fried Steak in San Francisco
I'm on a hunt and I need your help. I'm looking for the best chicken fried steak in San Francisco.
The problem is the definition of what passes for chicken fried steak in this city is awful. From the 2 places I found that serve it, it just doesn't even count (like eating a greasy, flour covered, hamburger). Coming from Texas, there is minimum that even counts.
I'm just surprised at how some people think you can make it. It requires round steak, egg, butter milk, and flour. Salt and pepper to flavor. The gravy should be white and make with the flour base. It's not rocket science.
A few places I have wondered into have something called "country steak" or "country fried steak" (both the wrong name; I don't care what you think) and when I see it, it's always some concoction of pure awful crap. They are likely only going to have one or two the of the ingredients I listed above and then add some weird spice or something.
Chicken Fried Steak is one of those simple and yet wonderful things in life. It's a perfect food in every way. No one needs to mess with it. I want my chicken fried steak and I'm tired of cooking for myself in San Francisco.
Help!!!
Update: the same sentiment goes for mexican food and tex-mex in this city. Come on people... where can a Texan's stomach feel at home in this city?
